On July 24, 2025, Maybe Finance published its final image. The company’s chapter closed, but the code was open—and a community was ready to carry it forward.
Almost one year later, Sure is still shipping.
What open source makes possible
An ending can be a handoff.
Maybe’s team made a generous choice: they opened the source. Sure exists because that foundation was worth carrying forward—and because maintainers, self-hosters, translators, bug reporters, and contributors chose to keep showing up.

The final Maybe image
Maybe v0.6.0 arrived as the project’s final release. The code was capable, open, and suddenly without the company that had built it.
A finish line for one team. A starting line for a community.

A new name, the same history
The first Sure rebrand landed with v0.6.1. The community fork took on its own identity while preserving the project history, attribution, and AGPL spirit.
Not a rewrite—a promise to steward what already worked.
Winter 2026
Sure moved beyond the browser
A Flutter companion, AI-assisted statement imports, richer APIs, and an MCP server for external assistants turned the codebase into a broader personal-finance platform.
More ways to use your data, without giving up ownership of it.
Spring 2026
More ways in, more people included
New bank, brokerage, crypto, and open-banking connections joined a maturing design system, an interoperable Sure import format, and translations spanning 15 supported languages.
The project grew wider while the foundations grew stronger.
July 2026
Still shipping
The v0.7.3 line brings new integrations, proactive financial insights, sturdier sync recovery, and a steady stream of fixes from people around the world.
The most important milestone is the next useful release.
